Heavy metal was born in 1970. Ten years later, the genre was already grown up! Bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were extremely important in cementing heavy metal as a distinct genre and subculture. Our new single pays tribute to the classic heavy metal from the beginning of the 1980's.
After Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin started the genre in 1970, many hard rock bands achieved great success in the first half of the 70's. However, the punk and disco waves put a temporary stop to the growth and evolution of heavy metal. Luckily the genre was saved by another wave at the turn of the decade: The New Wave of British Heavy Metal!
Our second single "The Priest of Maidenhead" pays tribute to this part of the history of heavy metal. The song is highly inspired by some of the most important bands of this period, namely Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Motörhead. Those three legendary and classic bands of course sound different but we still tried to merge their early 80's metal sound into one single song!
So why do we release the single on this date? March 22nd was the same date Iron Maiden released their classic album "The Number of the Beast" in 1982.
Irons up! Screaming for Vengeance! Born to Lose, Live to Win!
